What should I do if my account goes viral?

 

In May 2022 we started our collaboration with Sara V. Suarez. Sara had been working on a personal project (in collaboration with her partner) of fashion and image consulting for a few years. She had invested in website design, branding, social media and marketing work and even production of online classes to service clients in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico and San Diego, California in the United States. However, the results were not as expected. They had invested a lot to get started and now there was some pressure to recover the investment and force some results that dampened the mood and enthusiasm of Sara and her team.

It only took a couple of consulting sessions to make some adjustments to the social media content and the marketing plan that was being handled for what had not happened in years of work to happen: the account went viral on instagarm.

At least 2 instagram videos (reels) achieved more than 15 million views. The account went from 1,500 users to more than 100 thousand followers in a few days. Imagine! What would you do if something like this happened to you after trying for several years? Would you sit on your laurels to enjoy your success and attention? Would you think with a cool head to take advantage of the opportunity and follow a marketing plan to monetize the opportunity that is presenting itself? We choose to help with the latter.

After evaluating the project and the moment we decided to create a new brand with its respective branding to market and take advantage of the attention that Sara V. Suarez was generating. This brand is called Acento Asesoría . In Acento Asesoría we seek to market fashion and image consulting services in face-to-face format, masterclasses and online classes. We rushed to put together a creative, easy to understand and results-driven marketing plan to capture as many clients as possible now that the account was viral and, in a few days, Acento Asesoría already had 250+ clients waiting to purchase a service and the brand is just about to officially launch.

The lesson we want to share with this experience is the following: Creating content and having it go viral is a great success but, when you want that success to last, it is important to accompany it with a good marketing plan. We could have just sat back and celebrated with Sara what she wanted so much, but we didn't. We quickly created platforms to capture the interest of our customers. We quickly created platforms to capture the interest of users and clients and now, even though the virality may end, we can rest in knowing that there are clients to monetize and scale the brand towards something sustainable, towards something that does not depend on another stroke of luck and that will become one of the most important fashion academies in Mexico... and all because we knew how to take advantage of a content that went viral.
